I'm planning to spend 6 nights at "Hotel du Rond point de longchamp"
in Paris, any feedback on this hotel is really appreciated.

This is in the tony 16th, not far from the Place Trocadero. It's basically
a "1 tower" in Michelin, which says "This tidied-up facade and redone
interior can be found in a busy street. The rooms, which sometimes are a bit
lacking in space, are soundproofed. Breakfast room like a winter garden". A
good area, but perhaps a bit far from the centre of Paris. It's also a bit
of a walk to the Métro, and line 9 is OK for the Grands Magasines or
Chatelet, but somewhat awkward to get to Notre Dame, the Left Bank, Louvre,
etc.

Why not rent an apartment instead and live better for less? Plenty to be
found with any search engine...

Default Paris Hotel "Hotel du Rond point de longchamp"

My wife and I stayed there for our honeymoon in March of 1999. We liked it
very much. The room we had was not very large, but it was attractive and
comfortable, with the largest bathroom we have seen in a European hotel in
many years. The room had a small safe as well. And there was a little
balcony with an excellent view of the Eiffel Tower just a short distance
away. The hotel staff were extremely courteous and helpful.

Don't expect high luxury, but a comfortable bed and pleasant surroundings.

The location seemed fine to us. It is a few minutes walk to any of several
Metro stops. There are excellent restaurants and bakeries nearby as well as
a decent coffee shop in the hotel itself. We enjoyed staying in a fairly
residential neighborhood a bit away from the noise and confusion of more
centrally located hotels.

There are also several good restaurants not too far away. We can especially
recommend is La Fourchette de Mozart, 129 rue Lauriston (tel. 01 56 26 01
11). This is a small, family-run place with very good food at moderate
prices, and as American tourists we were made to feel like honored guests
there. The chef came out to explain the dishes to us, and when we left the
entire staff went to the door with us as if we had been visitors in their
home.

Both the restaurant and the hotel are favorites of ours.

For only SIX nights? I didn't know that was possible! Also, not every
traveler WANTS the inconveniences associated with "housekeeping" in
strange surroundings (although it also offers its advantages). Hotels
cost more because they provide more services, but many of us want those
services, when we're traveling.
