I noticed when I did an Internet transfer of money from my Dutch bank to UK that
a window opened giving the options of who paid the cost "You must share costs
between sender and receiver if in EU" was the default. I over rode this. All
costs charged to sender as required. Money arrived in destination account the
following day. Nobody is sitting on the cash for 3 days anymore. The Dutch banks
collect foreign transactions and send them all in the evening of the day the
transfer was initiated by the sender.

It may be that you were lucky and that the norm is still 4 days or more. Why
dont we test it out? I will give you my UK IBAN/Swift details and you send
me EUR1000 just to check that it works properly.

There is an apostrophe in don't, if you really want to use
correct English. The comma should come after Irwell (capital I).
Then you may come out from under the bed, not come out of under the bed,
for correct English.

Hey now, scRunge's chamber pot is under his bed, let's not deny him some
decent companionship...

That has been normal for international bank transfers for as long as I can
recall

New procedures to speeed up transfers were introduced earlier this year. In
the UK, three day transfers are still cheaper.

That is a bit slow, compared to transfers I've done to the Far East, which
arrive from the UK within an hour or two.

Are still cheaper than what? I had no UK charges. Dutch charges were minimal.

This was to UK from NL.
Earlier this year my wife paid for the annual EUR10 payment to Berlin NIS
without noticing the text in the window and was charged EUR 7.50 by the German
end of the transfer.

Spike Milligan's " ... is fluent in a dozen languages and says nothing sensible
in any of them" comes to mind.

He's living proof that there's no correlation between linguistic ability and
intelligence.
(Five bomb blasts in Bangalore today ... including one within earshot. One
dead, 15 injured so far. Thank you, either Al Qaeda/Pakistan or China
sympathizers).

I did and it is still what I would expect.

That is because you were sending from the Netherlands to the UK and had
chosen all charges to sender. Sending from the UK I still have the choice of
three day or same day transfers, with a premium for the latter, except where
payment is between two account holders in the same bank group. The
difference should disappear when the faster transfers are fully rolled out.

I worked that out without needing your assistance.

Sending to where? Within the UK transfers between HSBC accounts in any branch
have been instantaneous ever since I have banked with them.
