Same day transfer at a premium isn't the same as instantaneous transfer at no
extra charge.

Faster transfer rates have been rolled out. Money transferred from NL to UK
disappeared for 3 working days until this year.

That is what I said. However, I also routinely pay suppliers across Britain
and abroad by electronic transfer. They are not all with HSBC and several
have yet to fully implement the new procedures, so not all can accept
same-day transfers.

As understood it, the banks had to remove software that blocked instantaneous
transfers. The only delay we have now is that foreign transactions from NL are
collected together and transmitted in the evening. The same thing used to happen
in Italy, local bank to bank transactions were collected together, this allowed
one to take the maximum amount allowed by your debit card once from each bank
via ATMs. Good if you needed more than your allowed amount bad if your card was
stolen.
