before we headed into downtown Rome, so to be self-sufficient in our
needs and had to "eat out" only two times ( a disaster to eat out in
"tourist Rome") AND then we had the ice cream disaster... Caveat
emptor ...
It's a disaster to eat out ANYWHERE in "Tourist Italy" period.

I don't remember gelato being that expensive.
There's a place near the Trevi fountains, which got reviewed well in the
usual guide books.
Suppose to have artisanale stuff. A few euros. | |

in Italy, I have often been not only undercharged but given drinks - grappa and
limoncello - free after the meal after the bill has been paid.
