LA-London-Paris flight (do you claim luggage at Heathrow?)

Hi

For a flight on British Air LA to London and change over
to flight to Paris (still on British Air) do we have to claim
checked luggage at Heathrow and re-check it, or
does it get transferred directly?

Make sure you check your luggage through to Paris when you check-in in LA.
Also check-in the London-Paris sector in LA.
Everything should then be OK providing BA don't lose it or there is
insufficient time for the transfer of the luggage to take place. But
provision for the latter should have been built into your flight timings.

IF you are on a through ticket - that is, a single ticket (or e-ticket most
likely) that shows on one itinerary LA-London-Paris then no, you will not
have to reclaim your luggage at Heathrow [or for that matter go through
passport control]. However, given recent multiple baggage handling problems
at LHR, pack enough in your hand luggage for the first 24 hours in Paris.
