are we getting a lot of the US over portioned type restros in UK? I
tend to eat out high end so may be missing them.

I dont think its a problem with restros here. Where I live there were
no restros x years ago. Now the local shops are gradually being
replaced with them. They are about 15 minutes walk away and most walk
because they want to drink. Its the shops that are being de localised,
restros at Bluewater shopping centre dont seem to be a roaring
success, or at least are not affecting more local ones as far as I can
see. Even when they have a big name like Carluccio.
