Default Spain or Greece--Which is best value?

That certainly depends on the prices the restaurants offer.
For example, if you opt for a fish specialities restaurant (and I can
suggest you a couple of them in Dalmatia, if you want), you'll pay
from 50 to 100 Euro for 2 persons, depending what you eat (more if you
eat fish and drink bottled wine, less if you eat calamari or some
pasta with seafood and drink house wine).

If you opt for "ordinary" restaurants offering pasta, or meat dishes,
you'll pay around 25 to 50 Euro.

Pizzeria prices are usually about 7-8 Euro for a pizza and cca 2 Euro
for a pint of beer.

That's my experience. They were both much cheaper before the euro.

Do you mean "Eastern Europe"? Many of Eastern Europe's major cities
are approaching Western European prices.

The Greek islands are much nicer than the Spanish ones, and the Costa
del Sol is a dump.

The food is good in Spain and Greece, but neither of those compares to
the best of France or Italy.

Also Italy and many other 'EURO' countries :-(.
Only salaries are the same :-(.
