Default User reports on overnight train service London->Germany?

Anyone with recent experience of overnight rail travel from
London->Paris->Munich (or ->Hamburg, or ->Berlin) want to
comment on how good or bad an experience it was?

The schedules are convenient; the cost of a single sleeping
compartment is acceptable, especially taking into account
the savings on one less night in a hotel; and the convenience
of "city center to city center" travel is attractive.

Any reasons not to do this?

My reasons for not taking a night train are that you'll sleep poorly and
won't be able to take a shower.

In addition, flying is now much cheaper than it used to be.

ACK, why bother if you can get a plane for something like 20 - 30 EUR?

Regards,

Frank
