England in April

I'm going to a conference in London in mid April and will have a few
days free between the conference and appointments in Warwick and then
Oxford. I have spent some time in Wales, the Cotswalds, Stratford Upon
Avon, and other parts of England (I lived in Leeds for a year). But
I'm looking for suggestions for interesting venues outside of London.
I enjoy driving, photography, pubs, museums, history. I don't want to
invest too much time on a train going too far.

you could do some landscape photography in the lake district or
snowdonia

Thanks for these several suggestions; I'll do some more research in
guidebooks. I'm probably going to get out of London by train and then
perhaps rent a car for a day or so from whatever base I choose. I can
drive all right in Britain but getting in and out of London does not
seem to me a restway way to spend a vacation.
