Air Conditioning is MUCH more common in Italy than it was 20 years ago,
and even inexpensive hotels will often have it.

Italy in July will usually be hot, but not so hot that it should put
you off from visiting. However, July is the height of Italy's tourist
season, and you can expect Venice, Rome's historic center, and major
destinations in Tuscany to be absolutely mobbed with tourists.

Maybe France (Paris, the Loire Valley and Provence)?

my choice for a honymoon would be austria, get on a sound of music tour or
do it yourself in a car, you could take a picnic lunch up in a cable car and
sit on top of the world there are so many choices for scenery and
interesting things to do i dont think that you would be disapointed

Take a look at http://www.slowtrav.com/. "Click" on Italy found on
green bar across the top of thepage. Lots of information on all aspects of
travel to Italy. Also take a look at the the "message boards" associated
with Slowtrav at http://slowtalk.com/groupee/

From personal experience, Umbria in July can be hot in the day-time but
cools off quite nicely in the evening. Stayed three weeks at a villa
outside of Perugia and never lost any sleep due to the heat. Did find
swimming in the pool for a time before bed helpful on several of the hotter
evenings. We travelled via auto extensively in Umbria, visitng a number of
places, and found Assisi to be the most crowded, but manageable. Other
small hilltowns like Corciano and Montefalco were not crowded at all. We
spent our last three days in Rome which was crowded with tourists, but
that's part of the fun of visiting Rome. Most hotels in Rome are air
conditioned.

Yes, i quote Iceman, AC is common in Italy. Just ask before book if your
room have or not.

Umbria is very nice, quiet, nice to visit by car, every small city has a
story, an athmosphere, but i like to suggest you 2 other possibilities:
Toscana or Puglia!

Look this pics for an idea of Puglia's panoramas.

Toscana too, very nice places there!

Not necessarily -- we stayed recently at a place that adverised AC. Our room
had none. I inquired and was told "Oh, it's in another room. "It" turned out
to be a contraption on wheels that was rolled into our room, raised on a
platform, pushed into the window, and worked thru evaporation -- it dropped
the temp about 5 or 6 degrees F and raised the humidity commensurately. And
this was a "decent" central hotel.
Ask questions unless you are at a "luxury" hotel.
