Default Britain's bin baron says: get recycling like the Germans

which is a lame excuse imo, considering the proportion of people who live
in flats in Germany.

The German system where I live is easy and I would gladdy accept it
anywhere.

One week they pick up paper/metal/plastic etc which goes in one bin,
you do have to wash the container out, a quick fill partly with water
and switch about.
The following week is all your regular trash, bio remains, smaller leaf
clippings,etc
One a month they pick up glass, which all goes in one container.
Twice a year they pick up large item, furniture, etc. if you really
need it there are metal junkers which will take metal junk they come by
ever week or two and can be recognized by them ringing a metal hand
bell; as opposed to ice cream trucks which for some reason use
lullabies(still have not figured that out).
