Amalfi Coast is really nice. Great coastal views, lots of local
produce, nice towns. Bit pricey I understand. Thought Capri would
make a good place for a honeymoon. Lots of expensive shops, older
areas of town to look at. Easy to walk around (and get lost in).
Personally I really liked Sicily. Taoromina and Castlemoa are both
very nice little towns, with lots of local produce in the shops. I
remember lots of marzipan. Very quaint cafe in Castlemoa. Couple of
castles. Amphitheatre I think from Roman times. Coastal views. Not
very great distance away from the volcano Mt Etna, ie you can see it in
the distance. (Very black closer up). Other produce includes flavoured
honey, Limoncello, Prickly pear liquer (cactus), almond wine and lots
more. Lots of cats. Further to south is Syraceuse with a monolithic
Greek theatre, and other buildings of interest. Further on to
south-east are old Greek temples, ancient olive trees, old Roman villa
ruin with lots of mosaic floors (some feature in the history books I
read at school), ruins of a village. I think would make a very
interesting place for a memorable honeymoon |
