Where are you?
I live in paradise - but I travel to see places that are
different or interesting. So my place may be boring or
brilliant to you.
Define "cool". Antarctica? Nimbin (like, way out man, you
mean the seventies are over? Coool!) or NYC?

| | Guest | travel advice La Côte d'Azur in the south of France can't be beat, great food,
weather. The Ligurian coast in Italy is right next door. There is
plenty to see and do. | |

There are Mediterranian cruises that are probably right up your
alley.
They tend to start in Barcelona and around Italy and end in Greece or
Turkey. Alternately, I might suggest Cannes, France. Good rates,
lots of restaurants. Large selection of beaches. Bunch-o-people
watching
to do. You can also jump on the train and "do" Nice and Monaco quite
easily. | |

| | Guest | travel advice well I am from southern california, bout half hour from the desert and
an hour from the beach. 30 million people in about 150 square miles.
and actually thats almost exactly what i was thinking something along
hte mediteranean. i would like a good resort kinda place that has
plenty of activities but you can also chill out at the same time. and
also by the way i drive a volkswagen bus for those who are wondering | |

The La Côte d'Azur is what you are describing. Nice, Cannes, maybe
St. Tropez (although that can be a bit pricey) or really any of the
smaller
towns in between. Monaco as well although again that can be a bit
pricey for most folks. Bargin hunters would stay someplace like Golfe
Luan or Juan Les Pins. But you won't find 30 million people almost
anywhere concentrated in Europe.

Although it seems like there are that many during rush-hour leaving Nice in
the evening.

I don't normally do spelling flames, but it took me a read and another
read to realise you meant "heeled".

Try Santorini/Thera - a greek island. You can reach it by plane or
island-hopping ferry. Spectacular volcanic cliffs and black sand beaches.
If that's too quiet for you try Kos. Full of scandinavians in summer, but
has a busy night-life and some good deserted beaches if you hire a
car/moped.
