| | Guest | Barcelona 29/12 - 5/1 I want to go to Barcelona in the period 29-12 until 5-1-2006. I have 2
questions:
1. are the restaurants, shops and museums open or is the city 'asleep'
in that period?;
2. can someone recommend an appartment rental service (i'm looking for
a nice appartment in La Barceloneta)or El Born?
Hope to hear from you! Peter | |

You have 29 months in your year? Do you post from
Betelgeuse?

Actually, the list of those who do month/day/year is the
shortest one. It's a bit like medical numbers - all but the
USA and a handful of others use mmol/L, but the USA uses
mg/dl. Maybe they just hate marching in step?

Doesn't the rest of the World (ie excluding US and Canada) also use the 24
hour clock?

Yep, It's bloody annoying having to learn the Scandanavian
(perhaps only prt of) method.

I try to avoid the 24-hour clock if possible - too military for my liking.

If I have a digital watch, I prefer to have it set to 24-hour mode as it
seems more natural to me, though I translate to 12-hour for other
people, as telling someone the time is 17:45 always leads to a blank
look in my experience.
In this digital age, I am amazed at the very high percentage of people
who continue to tell the time by looking at the angles of two sticks,
and then translating that into numbers, rather than having the display
in numbers. It's a pity that all the watch design talents go into
analogue watches, while we are still lumbered with the basic 7-segment
digits for digital watches rather than high-res good-looking fonts.
