The re-engineering to make the Skyway wheelchair accessible wasn't
worth the cost. Financially, it made more sense to close it, as it
wasn't a high-volume attraction to begin with.

All rides do not need to be wheelchair accessible. There are several
attractions that aren't. I believe it needed a lot of work and Disney
didn't want to put the money into it.

Company line was the Skyway would cost too much to make earthquake
proof. There are no more skyways at any disney park. Personally I miss
the Peoplemover more, but that's just me.

I think the 'company line' varies depending on what usenet post or
website one sees. I've seen just about anything and everything. I
doubt the earthquake line. Too many attractions at DL that are
certainly not built to any earthquake codes. There is no regulation
that says existing attractions must be rebuilt to meet new codes.

People miss a lot of the older rides that are now gone. Trouble is,
they often miss them for historical reasons and not because they
actually liked the ride. The people mover seemed almost empty even on
busy days.
