Don't worry about it at all. Disney is very friendly to body types of
all sizes, and most rides are roomy enough for everyone.

Space Mountain might be a tight squeeze, and over at California
Adventure, there's a weight limit of 200 lbs. on the Orange Stinger (the
swing ride), but other than those, most attractions won't be a problem.
Lot's of rides have bench seating, with room to spread out, or
individual safety bars, so it's perfectly comfortable. Seat belts are
long, too, but if you need one, there are seat belt extensions available
on those rides that use a standard seat belt.

Now, if you're thinking of going to Knotts Berry Farm, or some of the
other parks, you might run in to a lot more trouble fitting in many of
the rides. But Disney?
They're very good about making room for everyone.

I've seen this question come up many times on the various Disney boards,
and have read responses from lots of people in your weight range. All
of them say it's honestly not a real issue, and that they ride
everything they want to without a hassle.

Definitely go! And have a blast. : )

Thanks, well that definitely gives me hope. I last went to Knotts at the
same time, and that was enough for awhile. I rode the Corkscrew (since
closed I think), Montezuma's Revenge (still quite a memory), and the
parachutes (closed too apparently, a shame). The parachutes was the only
time I had to fight the (non)gravity and fight to stay in the ride, hehe.
Too bad those are now closed. I think I was about 10 lbs over the weight
limit on that, but did just fine.

You give me lots of hope about Disney though. Thanks. :)

I hope your health gets better. I know that's a tough problem to deal
with.

Your post puts me in mind of the story of the woman who died on the
Colossus ride at Magic Mountain. She was too large for the ride, and
they could not pull the lap down on her.

There were a bunch of small hills on the ride where you would experience
negative G forces. Well, since she wasn't secured in her seat, she flew
out. The ride is made of wood, and the force of her ejection made her
fly through a few sets of wooden braces.

A friend at the time of mine worked at the ride, said she was cut into
pieces from it. I think he quit shortly thereafter.

I think the moral is don't go on something if you don't fit.

Yikes, sounds painful just reading it. Yeah, I think I'm the only person in
Southern California that's actually never been to Magic Mountain. I've
always been a leery of coasters in general. I don't remember which park it
was, but when I was a kid, there was a coaster that stopped with the people
hanging upsidedown. Left an impression. Then there was that old movie set at
Magic Mountain about coasters with old movie reporter Gary Franklin if you
can remember back that far. That was enough for me. <g>

As I said though, the one and only time I did ride coasters and had a blast
doing it was at Knott's Berry Farm. I rode the Corkscrew (since closed) and
Montezuma's Revenge.

I'm kind of saddened they closed the Corkscrew as it's not so bad
g-force-wise going upside down in a corkscrew rather than the typical
fashion. It's over once you do it, much like flying upside down in an
airplane. However, I think Montezuma is still having his revenge upon me
years later. I'll never forget the feeling of that coaster going upside down
in both directions. It wasn't so much scary, as just a lot of pressure on
the ol' body, and I was a lot thinner in those days. I can't imagine how
people do the coasters today standing up and spinning by themselves and
such.

If I do want to finally take the plunge and visit Magic Mountain, I want to
be at least at normal weight for my height or a little below so the g-force
factor isn't so bad. Your story sounds painful about that poor woman. I feel
for the worker who saw it.
