Default Hotel Reccomendations

We'll be going for a week (sun to fri) in early March to celebrate our oldest
daughter's 4th birthday. Our other daughter will be 1.5 at the time. I have
not been to Disneyland since junior high school, 15+ years ago so have never
planned a trip on my own. All I remember from being a kid was that we always
stayed at the Candy Cane.

Anyway, I have no clue where to stay. Originally I was thinking Disneyland
Hotel but I think I would rather spend the $$ elsewhere. My main requirement
is as close to the park as possible.

Please help, I'm clueless! :)

Thanks
Linda

Well, the Candy Cane is certainly one of the closest, and an excellent
motel. But if you want something closer, there are the ones directly
across Harbor Blvd. from the entrance plaza.

If you are not going to stay at one of the Disney hotels, I really
like the Hotel Inn International. It is right next to McDonalds, and
about 25 feet from the crosswalk at the Main entrance. I have heard
good things about the Candy Cane as well, but I have never stayed
there.

Candy Cane is still a popular and good place. I prefer the Marriott
properties, either the Residence Inn or the Fairfield Inn. Depending on the
time of year and week and what conventions are in town, the Hilton &
Marriott are really good hotels that sometimes have great deals.

Check Paradise Pier as well, they also have good deals sometimes.

Even though we are staying at the Disneyland Hotel in
December during AP special rates, if you aren't staying
at the resort, I recommend the CandyCane. It's the only
place we stay. (Other than our first AP rates DH this year).
Say hi to Oscar the shuttle driver. He's cool.

Will be going in December for the first time.

Does anyone have any feedback on Best Western Raffles Inn & Suites?
We don't plan to spend much time at the hotel, but will need a fridge
and microwave. And it must sleep 6 people. Other than that, cost is
probably the biggest factor for us.

Raffles is nice, but kinda far from the park Did you check out the Residence
Inn? They have a full kitchen and two bedrooms in a townhouse.

It's been a while since my family has been to Disneyland. Last time we
stayed at the Fairfield across from Disneyland. It was ok, but the cost
has increased. Does anyone have any recommendations for other places
within walking distance?

Thanks! -pat

In the past year we have gone twice. I pricelined hotels each time by
naming my own price. One time we stayed at the Grand Hyatt for 70 bucks
a night (10 bucks parking each night tho) on Harbor... about 1.5 miles
from DL. THe next time I got the Quality Inn for 40 bucks a night... it
is on Manchester close to the park. It is very close to the park and
has a waffle continental breakfast. I highly recommend priceline and I
think you won't be dissapointed.
