There's always the 75th anniversary, a mere 26 years away. It's not too soon
to start the planning. It will be here before you know it.
So, what to do for the 75th?
1. A totally new Tomorrowland. Rip out everything and start over from the
ground up. Close Tomorrowland for good on July 17th 2020 and spend the next
five years rebuilding.
2. The Third and Fourth Gates - WESTCOT and Disney Seas, or perhaps
something totally new.
3. A water park unlike any that has ever been built before. The park would
be enclosed so that it could be enjoyed year round. Lots of heavily themed
dark water rides with animatronics. Guests ride through on giant inner
tubes - a wet version of the Omnimover.
4. A new monorail linking the parks, hotels, Anaheim field/Amtrak
station/arrowhead pond, John Wayne airport, perhaps becoming the first leg
of a county wide monorail system.
5. I'd like to see Disney take over the International West project in Garden
Grove and use the land for an expansion of Downtown Disney and future parks
and hotels.
6. An amphitheater would be awesome. Enclosed with a retractable dome that
could be opened when the weather is nice. The dome would double as an Imax
screen.
7. More entertainment options for Downtown Disney.
8. A real movie theater, or two, or three that shows vintage Disney movies
all the time. Rotate the movies every week. It's nice to have them on DVD,
but nothing beats the big screen.
9. A virtual Yesterland. The technology will be readily available by then. A
3D experience to relive memories of old Disneyland attractions. VR suits
exist today that allow full tactile feedback, there's also Cave Technology.
These and others will likely be greatly improved in time for the 75th
anniversary. |
