Default AP hotel rates

So I booked my first ever stay on property, at the GC.
I thought AP's got a cheaper rate? All I got was the same
price as most of the 'net sights, including disneyland.com.
So it didn't matter that I had an AP. The very nice reservation
clerk at Disney told me to keep checking back to see if they
post AP nights for December (which aren't posted for now).
What's up with that ? I thought AP rates for a Disney property
hotel would be the cheapest ?

They had a deal last October where you could stay at the Paradise Pier for
as little as $59. Not sure about the other hotels, but they too were on
sale. Maybe they'll repeat that offer again this year.
