You are wrong. They did celebrate both HM's and POTC's b-days.

Oh ya... that reminds me:
They really should have done a Tiki Room exhibit in the Gallery in NOS. I
mean, this was the original animatronics show, so it has some historical
significance.
They could have honored the Tiki Room by doing some exhibits about that show
itself, as well as encorporating Mr Lincoln, Country Bears (unless they are
just hoping we totally forget about them), Pirates, HM, even Carousel of
Progress, America Sings and Tom Morrow... all in honor of the AA show's
anniversary.
But no... it was far more important for them to promote their latest movie.
I'm totally excited about this movie's release, but I'd rather have seen some
Tiki Room recognition.
My concept could have honored the Tiki Room and promoted the Pirates movie...
unfortunately they didn't ask me...
They never do... *sigh*

No, Disney wont let it rot - that isn't the Disney way. It's the "dislike of
the show" that will kill it. This attraction is old, boring, and slightly
obnoxious. It needs to be replaced. IMO.

It was nearly SRO when I last saw it recently.
Granted not many people were actually getting into it, but the theatre was
nearly full, and there seemed to be a pretty hefty-sized crowd waiting to get
into the next show.
It's definately going to be the lack of upkeep that does this show in, if
anything.
First of all, the hosts are still swinging around on their perches too
violently (are they trying to fling themselves off?). The sound quality is
abhorant... they really need to get some state of the art sound system action
going on in there. Lastly.. the outside is looking bad. The roof is falling
apart, and the tikis themselves really could use better sound, and (in the
ideal world) some more AA movement...
I don't know if they are purposely trying to let this show fall into disrepair
so that they can have an excuse to rip it out. That doesn't make much sense to
me.
What would the put there, if they did take the birds out? There's not a whole
lot of room.
Also, Disney doesn't have a very extended history of removing or 'updating'
attractions *just* because they are old. They do it because the shows are not
pulling in the crowds.
The Tiki Room is not always packed, but it does a fairly good job of soaking up
at least a few dozen people at a time. The same could be said of Country
Bears... but they got removed despite the good condition they were in, because
apparantly they weren't pulling in the people.
I personally blame Disney for this. They made no effort to advertise that the
show even existed. They made a movie about it, but they still made no effort
to remind people that it was in the park.
On the other hand though, Disney is aware of it's historical status, and the
tradition behind many of it's attractions. This is why they continue to upkeep
attractions like Small World, Pirates, and Mansion. They even made an effort
to keep the Treehouse in Adventureland as part of the park's landscape. People
weren't visiting it when it belonged to the Swiss Family, so they gave it to
Tarzan. And though I don't think they did a very good job with the redo, it's
still better than a decrepid tree or, even worse yet, no tree at all.
So the popularity of the attraction isn't the deciding factor in whether or not
the keep it or update it. I mean the Mr Lincoln theatre is practically empty
every time I see that show, and it's been that way since I can remember.
Despite that though, they recently surprised me with a total redo of the show,
complete with a state-of-the-art sound system.
If they can do such a thing with Mr Lincoln, a show that is close to totally
void of an audience (and I'm really proud of them for doing that), then I have
faith that they can also do the same thing for the Tiki Room, which continues
to pull in people.
The question is, will they? And if they do, will the new show be that same
obnoxious one they have at WDW?
I hope so, and I hope not... in that order.

No, I do not think people look at Lilo and ask that question. But
doesn't anybody else look at the "Monsters Inc." or "Finding Nemo"
characters and wonder what they have to do with California, other than
that Pixar is based in this state? I agree that the general public
doesn't know or care where animation comes from. But Lilo has as little
in common with California as Mike and Scully do, and *that* was the
point of what I was trying to say.

My apologies for the typo.

Well... it could be argued that the Monsters pretty much fit in in any state or
country... I mean they were based in their own world, and the story of the show
was that they had come out of some closet and now they were in CA... it's a
stretch, but it does make sense... especially considering where the company
that made those movies is based.
Lilo and Stitch, as much as I liked them, and liked the Ohana Luau... has
nothing to do with CA at all...
