Some random observations from the last trip Notes from our long weekend at the Beach Club:
Our Magical Express driver said that the bus would be stopping at the
Swan. When I asked him if they had added the Swolphin to Magical
Express, he answered evasively, "When we have to."
We had planned to have dinner at the Dolphin our first night, but rain
put the damper on that plan. We stopped at the lobby concierge to see
about dinner at the Yacht/Beach and he had no reservations for two,
but got us a reservation for three at the Captain's Grill. When we got
there, the place was half empty, but we noticed that all the tables
seated at least four. Apparently, the computer won't do a reservation
for two at the Captain's Grill because the tables seat more than two.
Dinner was pretty good but very overpriced for what it was. Six
scallops baked in bread crumbs with a sprig of broccolini for $20. Two
teeny crab cakes with slaw for $10.
I woke up in the morning hearing music--Illuminations rehearsal
without fireworks at 6:00 am. Again a little later. One of the
advantages to staying on the end with the frog-infested swamp, I
suppose.
And, speaking of cold-blooded creatures, when I was walking back from
Epcot, a smallish (about four-foot-long) black snake came out of the
shrubbery to sun himself. It being Disney, about five people stopped
to take his picture. I assume he was living on the frogs.
Generally light crowds last week, the only attraction that seemed to
have long waits was Midway Mania. Most everything was a walk on.
The stores in the parks had some very nice Halloween merchandise, the
stores at the resort did not.
It's nice that they took down those TVs at the Magic Kingdom bus
stops. Not only were they fuzzy, but they insisted on showing you what
you could be doing if you weren't so tired and footsore from just
having hiked around the Magic Kingdom. Now if they could only put in
some benches to sit on.
What is it with the the vitamin water? Suddenly they're selling
vitamin water all over the place.
They were only running one Friendship Boat at Epcot with stops at
Mexico, Morocco, and Germany.
The vegetarian platter at Tangerine Cafe in Morocco was surprisingly
excellent.
