| | Guest | Disney Vacation Club - Disney World Out of curiosity, does Disney Vacation Club offer any worthwhile
freebies for attending their time share pitch? I checked into it a
while back, and it seemed like a half day's commitment with not even a
free night's lodging.
Anyone know what the freebies are right now or where I can find out
online? | |

| | Guest | Disney Vacation Club - Disney World I don't think there are any promised freebies for this presentation.
It's not the
way Disney works usually. Sorry. Lisa

No problem Lisa. I'm almost certain something was offered when I got
pitched to attend a pitch about a year ago. Can't recall what it was,
but it wasn't anything impressive.

We received ice cream, photos of our group and meal vouchers for my
husband and me and also for the DVC members who brought us in. Of
course we went in having already done our homework and ready to
purchase our DVC membership. Maybe that's why we got such nice
freebies. :-) I don't remember it taking a half day, but then again,
we already knew we wanted to buy so maybe that's why everything went
so quickly.
Don't do it if all you are looking for is freebies. Go tour some
timeshare in Orlando if that's what you want.

| | Guest | Disney Vacation Club - Disney World how does the disney club compare to the other time shares- we have a
RCI type resort- we have points in stead of weeks so as long as we
have points we go when ever, and our children get it when we are
gone??? | |

Run that by me again... Are you saying that DVC owners get a 60%
discount ($4 per point) versus renters ($10 per point)?
One thing

So does the 60% discount mentioned above. I'm not sure I'm with you on
your point here.
I can share numbers (as I know I have once before) that looks at my
total investment, from buy-in through annual maintenance, since I've
owned DVC. Based on the estimated discount of non-DVC rooms (I've used
both 20% and 40%), the buy-back is inside of 7 years.

| | Guest | Disney Vacation Club - Disney World The 60% discount means that when you compare what your points cost you
for the room, you're paying about 60% less than you'd be paying if you
booked through CRO for cash.
It takes about 7 years to break even, then after that you're staying
for the cost of your annual dues. In my case it worked out to $86/
night - my original cost of the points plus annual dues this year
works out to that figure. So, I get a $300+ studio for $86. That's
assuming I use all of my points. I actually rented some out this
year, and when I deduct that off the annual dues paid this year it
works out to around $37 or $38/night for me.
