Ooooh, I love these technical questions !!
Up until recently, if you spent time with the nightshot feature, you would
be certain to spot IR illuminators all over as they were used as part of a
security device (sorry, I can't divulge how they were used) but these are
being replaced with something better. There are also one or two devices for
the disabled still in place that use IR. There are very few attractions left
that have any rules that are driven by copyright or trademark. In addition,
Disney has always tried to be conservative with filming permissions, if for
no better reason than to keep the show quality from being ruined by those
that aren't concerned about others...
So, now that everyone comes equipped with all kinds of small digital
devices, Disney is loosening the noose, so to speak.
