Default AK Behind the Scenes/Safari Tour

My daughter and I did the Backstage Safari tour in the morning. It
was great! Don't know what the first question pertains to. We were
taken in vans to the "backstage" areas for tours of facilities. We
had lunch. We rode the safari. We saw a giraffe and elephant close
up (no touching). It was very informative and I would not only
recommend it but I would do it again.

You may be getting 2 tours confused.

The backstage tour is just that. You meet at the very entrance of the
park and then are transported back to the animal enclosures by vans.
(We got to get up close and personal with a rhino ... and yes - we
touched it.) (My wife, daughter took this tour with me about 2 years
ago.)

From there you head to the bulding where they prepare the food for the
animals and then you are taken backstage at Conservation Station - get
to sit in a classroom - with snacks and drinks - and spend some time
with keepers/animals. (It was here that I "lost" my daughter. When I
turned around I found her "missing", and didn't find her until we were
about to leave. You see, she used to work at Conservation Station and
spotted some friends in the break room and took this time to visit.)

Finally, you get a special tour through the safari with your tourguide
who points out many "inside" facts that you don't get on the general
safari ... with the "storyline".

IMHO - it is certainly worth it.

The actual Safari part of the tour is not a backstage experience.
Could this have been what they were talking about?

Same with our tour. This was the only time were not backstage. We
did go to the front of the line and boarded our own safari bus and our
tour guides went with us. The usual spiel that you get when you are
on the "ride" was eliminated and we just rode and learned more stuff,
got to ask more questions, although we didn't stop specifically to
take pictures. If there was no other bus close behind us and if there
was time we did but for the most part we had to move along. Could the
OP be thinking of the Sunrise or Sunset Safari?

Isn't that the rumored fifth gate / nightly kingdom experience ??
