Why do you care about the DIS? They have done a few things over the
last year that have made me swear never to visit their site again.
I'm curious, what things have they done that have made you feel this
way?

I'm not answering for Joe, but for myself. The problems I have with the
DIS are with the overall "moderation" of the boards. There are some
moderators who close threads and edit posts based on their own personal
feelings and not the rules. Also, not allowing a link or mention of a
website or other business that happens to be a competitor of an
advertiser or sponsor is also very distasteful. This type of control
really stifles many good and potentially constructive conversations.
Besides that, the place just tends be a bit "cliquey".
Hmmm... I haven't run into those issue although I don't post and/or
read that much outside of the DVC forums. I can definitely see your
point though.

Are there really any good alternatives to the DIS though... as far as
forums go? They get a lot of traffic there...

Thanks
Ted

This is the only forum-type website I visit and have never gone to the
other one. Are there folks who used to post here who have migrated
over there? Just curious.

Ted,

There are literally dozens of other Disney fan sites with forums. You
have only scratched the surface with radp and DIS.

Most people who have issues with the DIS are tired of the extreme
inconsistencies and agendas....and I'll leave it at that.

You will find many links, for example, to AllEarsNet in many of the
Dis Forums, but that is because it is not a commercial site.
Err... how exactly is "commercial site" defined? There are ads
plastered all over every page of AllEars.net for various sponsors.
Not to mention for the site's creators' own book. Certainly they make
money from the operation of the site (I have no idea how much, of
course, or whether it's enough to cover the costs of actually running
the site).

As far as "other options" the answer is probably "too many." Almost every 'unofficial fansite' has a forum and many of them are good. DIS is "the standard" and has a lot of positives and negatives. If you're looking for someplace new check out our directory at Walt Disney World for Grownups (wdwforgrownups since I can't put the url).

We also have a forum there which we are encouraging people to join who like a slightly different kind of Disney related conversation. We'd love to have you.

I know for a fact the article was wrong.

My DreamsUnlimited Travel Agent is a moderator of the camping board.

No biggie to me.

She knows the Fort though, so I let her handle it. With reservations
and discounts so hard to get over there, it just makes my life
easier!!
