I've heard of several cases where the renter was part of a 3-way
telephone call when the reservation is made. Of course, the DVC-owner
could always call back and cancel but that's pretty devious.

I don't believe they do that any more. I know as a dvc member who has
rented points in the past, I'd never agree to it anyway. If the
person doesn't trust me, I don't need their money ;-) And, like you
said - as soon as the call has ended, all the dvc owner has to do is
call back & cancel the reservation if they're trying to do anything
underhanded. The conference call thing is a false sense of security
and a waste of my time.

we did come across one on the web - and it seems that he would take
some of the angst out of that process. we could cancel our package
res. if it's cheeper- just not sure if it's less money - or worth
it.

we're just trying to make our bucks stretch as far as it could- we're
going insane and doing the week leading up to christmas- leaving the
26th just when things get really crazy there-

I am not sure if renting from anyone is a great idea but I do know you
can save a bunch if you get someone or some company that is
trustworthy about renting the points. My sister is in the midst of
renting points from a broker who helps people rent out points they
cannot use--it is our first time but I am getting alittle leary about
the whole process. I am just really concerned the person will back
out because they agreed to a really low price for a 2 bedroom at SSR--
I tried to price a studio incase we needed room and it cost more than
the 2 bedroom point rental. One reason why I am getting leary is the
broker seems to be taking awhile to get back with the info etc--we did
get the confirmation letter but like everyone says Disney wont talk to
us so we have to go through the member to add the dining plan and this
is where getting info back is taking long---I am afraid this person
will backout last minute and we will be out of booking another Disney
Resort because all the rooms will be booked up. We are not going
until December but it is POP Warner/Mousefest Week.
