| | Guest | Help me compile my DW hit list Hello everyone. We're going to DW in mid September. This will be the
first time I've been there since about 1976 (I've been to DL, Anaheim
several times and DL Tokyo once). Since we'll only be there for two
days, I wonder if anyone would help me compile a hit list of the can't-
miss attractions. I think I've got my plans for the MK in good shape,
but I have no idea about of the other parks -- Epcot, etc. Ideas
anyone?

You make a good point. I glossed over the "been to DL/Anaheim several
times". My mistake.
Given that, I would eliminate from my original list:
Pirates (DL is far superior)
Big Thunder (just about the same)
Soarin (exactly the same)
Tough to be a Bug (the same, save the queue, which is better at WDW)
MuppetVision (the same, save the queue, which is better at DL)
Go on Haunted Mansion any way, to see the differences - the stretching
room and first corridor are differnet.
Go on Space Mountain any way, because the tracks and carts are
completely different
Go on Splash Mountain any way, because you will finally understand the
story line

Agreed about Wishes - they use the same general storyline. I think I
actually like Remember better, because of all the surrounding
fireworks, but I really like Wishes' themesong.
Fantasmic is the same for about 75% of it. The remaining 25% is very
different. Peter Pan vs Pocahontas, and significantly more villians
in WDW. And the seating is in a giant ampitheatre built just for it,
rather than "whereever you can lay claim to the ground" at DL.
Whether that's better or worse is a matter of opinion...

Yup. Haunted Mansion is where you think Thunder Mountain should be.
Thunder Mountain is to the right of Splash Mountain. Space Mountain
is directly straight off the Tomorrowland bridge, rather than in the
right corner, but you have to go around the rockets, which are in the
center of Tomorrowland rather than right at the entrance. Pooh is in
Fantasyland rather than Critter Country, which doesn't exist. The
Dole Whip Bar is a little ways down from the Tiki Room rather than on
either side of the waiting area. There are only three stops on
railroad. And of course, the monorail lets you off just outside the
main entrance, not in Tomorrowland.

I had the same problem. I did more backtracking at DL than I ever did
at WDW. I kept expecting to be able to make a loop somewhere, but
ended up just having to turn around the way I came.

Since you will be there in time, you absolutely must make an evening a
destination all too soon to be lost to all of us:
The Adventurer's Club at Pleasure Island.
Granted, it will take a significant portion of your very little time,
but given that this will be your only chance to ever visit the AC as we
have known it, it would be more than worth it.
And having read this entire thread, I am astonished that no one else
suggested this before me.

....Is it still open in September??

I love all the Disney rides but my mom gets a little nervous even on
POTC. How wild is this ride, really? I understand that it's largely a
simulation.

Which one?--The answers are a bit different for each... ;)
