| | Guest | Southwest ? So...airfare is currently at $259 roundtrip. I'm thinking $220 is
probably the best I could do. If I buy for $259, and it goes on sale,
does anyone know if Southwest will issue a credit for the difference?
Thanks! | |

Jill,
From my experience, SW NEVER gives money back. If you want to get your
original tickets refunded in the form of a credit and then apply that credit
towards future tickets, that's ok (but the credits expire after one year I
believe) - they will do that without penalty. But once you pay them, your
money is forever theirs.

| | Guest | Southwest ? Actually, in the past I have received a credit card refund for a price
decrease. Keep in mind, this was a few years ago before the "fuel
crisis". I wrote them a polite letter thanking them for the lower
price and informing them that our family does not fly often, but when
we do it is always on SW (the truth). I respectfully requested the
difference be refunded to my original form of payment, and received a
refund on my credit card within two billing statements. Don't know
how well it would work today, though! Worth a try, in my opinion.

I learned this the hard way and made a $250 donation to Southwest a
couple of years ago. | |

That must be one of those things that they don't offer or tell you
about but if you specifically ask, then they'll tell you. I tried to
no avail. I was even taking a trip within a few months of the
expiration and they wouldn't extend it.

I think the $50 fee is to extend a free ticket award through Rapid Rewards
frequent flyer, not to extend a dollar-value voucher.

| | Guest | Southwest ? I posted last week about having received a refund (not a travel
credit) from SW...just wanted to update to say I received another
refund this past week. Same basic situation as the one I experienced
a few years ago. I found a lower fare on DING, re-booked at the lower
rate, had the difference placed in my SW account as money I could
apply to a future reservation (within one year of original ticket
purchase date). I wrote them to say we do not anticipate traveling
within the next year and requested the amount be refunded to my credit
card, which was my original form of payment. I received the $60
credit in this month's Visa statement!
Service like this, in times like these, is why I only fly Southwest!
