daughter is a bit nervous about luggage getting lost. When we arrive,
can we retrieve our own luggage and then just go to the ME buses?
We're flying SW. | |

Thanks! I think I might let mine go just so I can get my own take on
ME and let Amy schlep her own bag. I think I will put a change of
clothes and PJs in her bag just in case, though! Gee if my stuff
didn't arrive till the next day, I might have to be completely
outfitted at a Disney gift shop. What a tragedy that would be,
right? ;-) | |

| | Guest | Another question about ME Yes, you need to make sure you DON'T use the luggage tags they give
you. As that is what the handlers use to pull the luggage out.
I've had airport employees pull them off because they thought they
where "old" airline tags.
Infact IF I was going to use DME again, that is what I'd do. Pull my
own bags from the carousel and carry them to DME. That way the bags
ride on the bus with you. The DME drivers will stow them under the
bus for you. My experience, is this is the only way you can get
your luggage in a timely manner.

Well may I will do that then too. Since we will already be schlepping
to the carousel for Amy's bag I might as well grab mine at the same
time! At least we don't have to schlub them down to the car rental
area this time! Wish those counters were a little closer to the
luggage or something! | |

Experiences, and definitions of "timely", differ greatly. I've used
DME four times in the past two years, and my bags were always in my
room by the time I got back after visiting the parks. I can't
imagine what anyone would need their bags before that for anyway.

I agree with you. Guess I'll just play it by ear. Appreciate all the
input, though. | |

I agree, Paul. Our 3 experiences have been like yours. Just be sure to carry
meds, swimsuits, or anything else you HAVE to have in a carry-on. I have to
say that, to me, one of the nicest features of DME is completely ignoring
Baggage Claim and the 15-20 minutes I usually waste there. Many people seem
to forget about that when they complain about an extra 5 minute wait on the
bus. | |

Thanks Bill! I really want to give it a try so I can judge for

I agree, IF you're getting in fairly early and plan to go to the parks. I
got in at 5pm after a long and tiring day and was ready to go to bed before
my luggage arrived at 10! | |

We've used DME with just me and Hubs 3 times, and with a large group
once. No problems yet, and we'll be using it again in a couple of
months. Packing essentials plus a change of clothes and bathing suit
in a carry on is something we always do, ME or not. ME aren't the
only people who can lose luggage, don't forget! And frankly, I love
bypassing baggage claim and riding on a bus that shows a little Disney
commercial on my (impatient) ride to the hotel. That keeps us amused,
even if it's the same old video each time.
Have fun~
