Myself, my wife, our kids, then 11 and 12 went on our first vist in 1983.
That was the best trip because we had never seen it before. Everything was
new to us and I was 24 years younger. Everything seemed better then than it
does now. We still visit at least once each year but the first trip was
handsdown the best.

The 1990's was, without a doubt, WDW at its peak.

EPCOT Center from 1989 through 1992 was perfection!
All the attractions and countries were built, and all the original
sponsors were still in place (as long as we don't quibble over "The
Bell System" becoming "AT&T").

Most important of all, Disney was still improving the WDW and
themepark experiences. The cutbacks and the nickel-and-diming changes
didn't start to show-up until the mid-to-late 90's (I always think of
the dividing line as when Frank Wells died... WDW hasn't been the same
since).

Every trip seems better than the one before it to me! But my absolute
best was in 2000 for my 50th birthday. My husband, daughter, son-in-
law, son, daughter-in-law, and dear cousin went with me. My son's in-
laws also joined us for part of the trip though they weren't much into
the Disney spirit at all. It was special for me because I got to do
Disney for the first time in 12 years with the ones I love the most!

We've visited in the 80s, 90s and 00s but the best trip is ALWAYS the next
one.

Early 80s--preteens, family, only MK was around but I saw epcot being
built, Spaceship earth was only a shell, pretty cool

Late 90s took my young kids no AK but we hit the 3 parks pretty hard

00s family reunions with parents, brothers family, sister and
myself...interesting traveling with a large group and trying to
satisfy everyone.

As a kid MK was so magical. It seemed so big. As a dad it was cool to
see everything again through my kids eyes. Disney went from a family
park to a major coporation since my first visit. Wish the "smaller"
company values were back meaning the resonable prices and better
quality merchandise souvies.

In the early 80's, with the anticipation and then the realization of
EPCOT Center.
It was also at that time that all the new resorts were being built...
so much more than just the Polynesian, Fort Wilderness and The
Contemporary in WDW's future. Every time we went, there was so much
more than the year before!

For a while, Eisner truly had his Disney Decade or whatever he had
called it- lot of excitement! LOTS of entertainment in the parks.
LOTS of new themed attractions, resorts, etc.

I've been many times, but the three that stick out in my memory are:

1) my honeymoon in '93 (probably obvious why it was magical!)

2) the trip we took when my older son was 2 1/2, back in 2003 (he really
"got" WDW that trip, and the whole experience was really something special)

3) and a trip I took as a teenager back in '83 (compared to trips I had
taken as an elementary schooler, this time I was old enough to really
appreciate the details, the effort, the imagination, the creativity that
went into everything at WDW, and it all seemed amazing to me).

So from my experience, the most magical trips happen in years ending in 3.
:-D

I don't remember too much about my first visit to WDW. I was only 3.
My second visit I was 12 and loved, loved, loved it. Going with a
bunch of other friends made me feel so grown up (mom and dad where
there too. LOL) That was in the 80's.

In the late 80's, early 90's I took my last trip with my parents and
so enjoyed EPCOT for the first time. How I miss my dad whenever I
think of that trip.

Going back again in 2004 with my kids (7 and 4 at that time) was truly
the most magical for me. Seeing the Kingdom and the other parks
through their young, innocent eyes was just amazing. Each visit since
has been such a joy as we notice the changes happening around the
parks. Some for worse, some for better.

Like it was said in previous posts....the best trip is the next trip.

Dina Marie
