I always thought it was DISNEY Wife, etc. And in fact, MY DW prefers it
to be DisneyWife. ;)

Gloria,
I happen to agree with Ed on this subject. If you compare the extra
few seconds that I takes to type out the whole abbreviation for 1
person typing it then compare it to the hundreds or thousands of
people reading the message who have to stop at every !*#(@&$@-blasted
abbreviation to look it up, then the readers are DEFINITLTY as a whole
are wasting a TON more time! *By the way, don't bother doing a google
search for !*#(@&$@, you won't find anything meaningful!).

Expedition Everest and Big Thunder Mountain.
Don't you think that should be EE instead of ExE?
If you want to read trip reports you should find that link somewhere in this
thread and study, study, study. If you don't a trip report that would take 5
or 10 minutes to read will take you anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes because
you'll constantly have to refer to the list of acronyms.
My understanding is that it's ok to save 1 minute typing even if the reader
has to spend an additional half hour or more trying to figure out the mess.
The reason it's ok is because teens text message and some jobs use acronyms
in their communications between employees. I don't really get the connection
but that's what I came away with after reading this thread. Oh yes, and
because the posters are busy people and the readers are not.

Maybe not, but it's right for THEM. JM2CW.

That would be my guess. I may not mind being exposed here but I don't
think my husband, children, and other traveling companions would
appreciate it. | |

I agree! When I was a newbie here, if I couldn't figure out what an
abbreviation was for I asked. What's so hard about that. Ed, you're
being a curmudgeon. Can't you find something more interesting to blow
hot air about? Abbreviations are our language here in RADP land.
They're abbreviations; it's not rocket science for heaven's sake.

I believe ExE was thought better because, at that time, EE was Early Entry
which, as we all know, is now EMH (Extra Magic Hours). And if you weren't
confused before...

From personal experience, it's much more than 1 minute typing. Just the
difference in typing WDW versus Walt Disney World probably equals 10 minutes
in a typical report. Iwould also say that, given the intended audience
(RADPers), I wouldn't expect much, if any, additional time to read and
interpret. | |

If I got any liighter I'd float away. I'm not upset about it, I just think
it would benefit more people if things were spelled out. That's all.

No one is asking for names and addresses.

True but if I was talking about my cousin X and her husband Y and
their daughter Z who went on a trip with my husband A and my daughter
B, that would be enough information for some readers to be able to
figure out who they were. The likelihood is small but I want to
report on MY trip to Disneyworld. If my family members want to report
the details of their trip, they can post their own report and divulge
as much or as little info as they want. It all comes down to privacy
and I don't want to invade theirs.
