Default WDW Treatment of Cast Members

I've heard that WDW does not take very good care of their cast
members. Subpar living conditions, not great benefits, sanitary issues
with costumes. Anyone know anything about this?

That is the a flat lie. The pay is average, but to make up for it I have
an EXCELLENT benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, 401k
with matching, childcare assistance, discounts to a variety of businesses as
well as tickets and deep discounts for the resorts. Additionally, there are
surprises every other day that vary from a new contest to win prizes, gifts
for overtime to restaurants and 1 to 2 nights at ANY resort of my choice, to
Mickey Mouse dressed in a costume for the season taking pictures with cast
members as we talk on the phone. I work in the reservation center, and am in
Tampa, so having Tigger jump up behind you while I am on the phone is
exciting. As for the living conditions, while I was in the college program I
had a nice apartment that I shared with great people. I visited some friends
frequently who were lucky enough to be staying at the Tree House Villas, but
the group staying there were mostly from South America. To address the
costume issue, my friends never had any complaints, but I only work on the
phones, so that is not something I have personal experience. Maybe someone
else can chime in.

For EIGHTEEN years, you've had a job with a company that you feel
"doesn't treat you very well"?! For god's sake, why!?

Are they self-insured? Why would Disney be excluded from rising health care
insurance costs?
