| | Guest | California Grill or Spirit of Aloha? I'm in the process of planning our 15th Anniversary trip for next
January. It's always been kind of a tradition to spend our last park
day at the Magic Kingdom, which is also scheduled to be an extra magic
evening night.
Because of the way our flights are booked, we are going to have 4 days
worth of meals on the dining plan, but we are only going to be at WDW
for 3 days (arriving around 10:30 p.m. on a Thursday night and leaving
around 8 a.m. on Monday morning.) So, I want to use up 2 table
credits on one meal, and I've narrowed it down to either dinner at the
California Grill or the Spirit of Aloha dinner show. I figured either
of these would be easy to get to from the Magic Kingdom.
It will just be my husband and I, and I'm most interested in feeling
like I get the most for my 2 credits. We're going to have lots of
romantic time, so a quiet dinner isn't a must. What's everyone's
thoughts?

How important is the food to you, and how important is the
entertainment? If you enjoy a quality meal, you'll find one of the
most creative and upscale WDW menus at CG. I've eaten their twice, and
both meals were excellent. I suggest you look at the menu posted on
allears.net, to see if this is a menu you would enjoy or are inspired
by.
I went to the luau show, before it was called Spirit of Aloha.
Frankly, I felt that the show was a bore, and the food was mediocre to
poor. If it's a dinner show you're looking for, I've never heard
anyone say anything bad about Hoop-De-Doo. Might not have the romance
of a Polynesian luau, but at least the show promises to be better, and
the food, too.

| | Guest | California Grill or Spirit of Aloha? Add me to the Grill supporters. Althought I would also consider
Narcoosi's (sp?) at the GF. And as far as comment about scheduling it
for wishes. I'd say skip that. They use to turn the lights down
and it was really great watching it from CR. Now, it's full of kids
trying to sleep and cranky adults. I prefer it either before the
wishes crowd or after.
If you plan a meal RIGHT after wishes, normally you can go up for
drinks on the catwalk outside which I think it better...

| | Guest | California Grill or Spirit of Aloha? Hmm, I hadn't thought about Hoop-De-Do. I tried to get some input
from my husband yesterday and while his final word was "Surprise me!",
he did say that he can eat at a fine dining establishment whenever he
wants, so he thought a dinner show might be nice. If the Spirit of
Aloha is as bad as everyone says, maybe H-D-D Revue would be a better
choice?

H-D-D was fun. I went with a group of 5 adults and we had a great
time. I'm sure most people here agree- you don't need kids to make
Disney fun. If your husband wants a dinner show instead of fine
dining, I would certainly recommend it. | |

HDD is fun. I wasn't sure what to expect, only that it was lots of
fun. It was great fun, good food (especially the ribs!!) and we were
part of the show because we were sitting so close to the stage.
Almost near the end, the power went out. That was interesting. We
thought it might be part of the show but the cast was all looking at
each other saying What do we do now? It was pretty funny. They
opened the back doors to let some light in and after about 10 minutes,
the power came back on and it was on with the show! This was the
earlier show so there was a big of a delay for the people for the next
show to come in and be seated. You will laugh and you won't leave
hungry! | |

| | Guest | California Grill or Spirit of Aloha? I just came back from Disney. We did go to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. We didn't
like it as much as a lot of people on here. The food was OK.The chicken was
good. No one in our party liked the ribs (the meat didn't fall off the
bone), salad was OK, mashed potatoes very lumpy and we don't like baked
beans. There wasn't any corn as I have seen in a lot of pictures. We were
upstairs, cat.3. It was a pain to keep turning in our chair, we kept banging
into eachother and they were uncomfortable. We won't go back.
