| | Guest | Question about Pop Century refillable mugs... Hey folks:
Friends of ours are making their first visit to the world in August. They
are staying at PC with their boys ages 10 and 8. They are planning on
buying 2 mugs so the boys will each have a souvenir. However, I told them I
would loan them our mugs from our March trip so they'd only have to buy two.
I know - it's a no-no but I'm trying to save them a little money. I
wondered - I thought I read something about changing the look of the mugs to
have something to do with YOMD. Has this happened? Or is it still the old
PC logo on them?

I know that it's been discussed around here that it's a "no-no", but let me
tell you what we were told just a couple of weeks ago. We (DH, DS and self)
went down for the final Star Wars Weekend at the end of June. On the
Magical Express bus from the airport to our resort, POFQ, the driver
discussed the refillable mugs. He encouraged everyone to purchase one,
explained how they worked, and to make sure to bring them back on any
subsequent trips, this was official policy he said!
Although we didn't buy them on this trip, I did notice that they have a YOMD
theme, and saw people walking into all the parks with them on this trip,
which I've never noticed on previous trips. I was not aware that you could
refill them INSIDE the parks, but maybe someone else around here knows. I
thought it kind of odd that people would want to carry them around all day,
I certainly wouldn't.
I can't imagine that if the new policy is to allow you to bring your mugs
back, that they would discourage you from bringing in an older mug.
Just reporting what I was told!

You do realize the bus driver is a Mears employee, right?

I'm aware that the buses come from Mears, but he's wearing a Disney uniform.

Re-reading my post, it sounds a bit terse which was not my intent. Sorry.
The point I was trying to make is... Unless it's changed, the DME drivers
are Mears employees. I would think they shouldn't be offering opinions on
Disney policies - particularly a policy as muddy as the use of refillable
mugs. | |

| | Guest | Question about Pop Century refillable mugs... Apology accepted, Steve. But as I stated originally, I was just relaying
what we were told on our bus ride and asking if anyone else had heard the
same.

| | Guest | Question about Pop Century refillable mugs... That's good that they have more colors. Last year it was just black, blue &
red. What does YOMD stand for?

I just can't see the CMs doing anything about it, if they were to spot
an old mug being used. Talk about bad PR. Drinks cost Disney so
little. I can't see that it's worth it to them to enforce any rule
that may be in place, at the risk of upsetting a guest who will
decide, after the confrontation, to not spend any more money on
souvenirs, snacks, anything extra, in response.
