| | Guest | Itinerary Help Hi all. I am planning a vacation for 8 of us (my husband and I, our
two girls (age almost 10 and 7), my sister and her husband, and my
parents (mid 60's). We leave in 36 days (but who's counting!!!). I
have been the designated planner, but haven't been to the parks in
about 20 years and then only once. Here are the thoughts on my
itinerary. We are staying at the Beach Club, have purchased 9 day
hopper plus and dining plan. ADR's are in place for my ideas below.
Advice would be aprreciated.
Sat (April 28): Arrive at 5:50 in Orlando. I'm sure we'll be starving
and excited, plus wide awake due to the 3 hour time difference from
Reno. This is the hardest day. MK closes early due to grad night. I
had thought either Disney Quest or Epcot World Showcase this evening
after getting to/checking into Beach Club.
Sun: Epcot in am. Dinner at Akershus for the girls and Nine Dragons
for the adults not interested in pricesses. Then after dinner to late
hours at MK.
Mon: Animal Kingdom (early hours). Dinner at Concourse Steak House
and Fireworks Pirate Cruise at 8:45.
Tue: Epcot (early hours). Le Cellier for dinner
Wed: am: a water park. Dinner at Hollywood/Vine Fantasmic Package.
Continue at MGM.
Thu: MK (early hours) Disney Quest in evening. Dinner at Cap'n Jacks
Fri: MGM vs 2nd water park vs downtime. Epcot in afternoon/evening.
Diving Tour for my husband and me 4:30-7:30 with Illuminations Grand
Gathering at 7:30.
Sat: the other water park vs MGM early hours for the morning. open
for the evening. Dinner at Cape May Buffet.
Sun: go home
So what should I change?

| | Guest | Itinerary Help Hi Sheryl!
The only thing that jumps out at me is Nine Dragons for dinner. I love
Asian food of any kind, but I can't think of a single reason I'd eat
there - it's very overpriced for average Chinese food. Other than
that--it looks like you have a great handle on things.
Have a great time - we'd love to see a trip report when you get back!

| | Guest | Itinerary Help This spring we'll be making out 20th visit. I never had a daily plan made
out.
It's fun just to look and see what's available and take a vote. An
alternative would be to let one in the group pick the park you start off the
next day in.
Two things you shouldn't miss.
1. The Festival of the Lion King at Camp Minnie-Mickey in Animal Kingdom.
2. Soarin' at Epcot.
Ok, make it 3.
3. The Kali River Rapids ride is great.
At MGM, lots of people fear the Tower of Terror. Let me tell you, I'm 61
years old and have two herniated disks.
I love it. It's the hype that keeps the lines shorter than they would be
otherwise.
Sometimes having everything planned out can be a real PITA.
First night we usually do Downtown Disney or Epcot.
Epcot has Illuminations every night at 9:PM. You can be sure the fireworks
will be just to celebrate your arrival.

Don't lock yourself into anything this night IMO... the first day you
get there you might want to just sit around the hotel and relax instead
of head straight to a park and rush around. Most of the time when we
get to our room the last thing we want to do is head straight out to a
park.
If you haven't been in 20 years, then you probably don't know that the
hotel is as much a part of the experience as the parks are... even if
you stick around the hotel, you won't feel like you're wasting time or
doing nothing. | |

| | Guest | Itinerary Help Thanks for all the advice everyone. I'm still not sure whether to walk
World Showcase and find counter food there that first night or go to
downtown disney and look for food there. Are there dining options (counter
service on plan) in downtown disney? Does the restraunt in Disney Quest
take the plan? We have a pool at home so even though I'm sure stormalong
bay is spectacular, I don't think the very first thing my kids are going to
want to do at Disney is swim. By the way, it is Divequest we are doing, not
a "driving tour."
Do I have enough time at each of the parks? My kids have grown out of the
character thing except maybe a little bit of princesses and we have done a
lot of Disneyland/California Adventure in the past.
Thanks again for all the great advice.

| | Guest | Itinerary Help I highly recommend BOMA at the Animal Kingdom Lodge (AKL) as one of
your meal choices. I guarantee you will be talking about your
experience there long after your trip has ended!

Sounds like a pretty good plan. Just wondering does your plane land
about 5:50pm or are you saying you will arrive at your resort about
that time? Not sure if you are renting a car or taking ME or using a
town car service. The town car service may get you to the resort
faster than renting a car or ME so you probably will arrive at the
resort around 7 or 7:30pm--check the EMH schedule--maybe Epcot or MGM
will be open later---eating at Epcot maybe a problem for counter
service because of hours the park is open. Otherwise, I would
probably head to Downtown Disney--There is Wolfgang Puck's Counter
Service/Disney Quest Counter Service but I am not sure which places
are on the Dining Plan and their hours. In fact in the Boardwalk/
Beach/Yacht Club Resort Area there are not any counter service places--
unless the Market Place at the Beach Club counts--you can always pick
up sandwiches/chips/drinks there before heading out. Well have fun in
whatever you decide. | |

The Market Place does count, and so does Hurricane Hanna's at Stormalong
Bay, but I don't know the hours there.

Change whatever the others in your group seem the least interested in
doing. | |
