Illuminations. It was always busy at that time, I don't understand why
they stopped that.

We did, too! It was SO nice to stop and have a piece of cake and a
cup of coffee while letting the crowds dissipate in the parking lot.
And you're right, there was always a crowd of people wanting one last
snack before they left the park. I can see maybe closing the place
down mid day when it is dead. But breakfast and evening seemed to
always be busy times there. I really miss the place.

I had heard that it might be due to not having enough staff. I don't
know if that is the case, but it certainly wasn't due to lack of guests.
That was one of my favorite things to do at Epcot, we'd split a
chocolate mousse and wait for the park to be fairly guest-free. Now
it's like "okay, Illuminations - lets go before it's over!" :)

If that's the reason, it's sad. Makes you wonder what else will be
shuttered due to lack of ability to get people to staff the place.

We do that, too. Or we take one last walk around World Showcase Lagoon
to let the "sheeple" crowd down through that narrow walkway between
World Showcase and Future World and then to clog up the exits of the
parking lot with their cars. I've always said that an extra 15 to 30
minutes of dawdling before exiting EPCOT after Illuminations at
closing makes all the difference in the world to my sanity.

| | Guest | The Fountainview is closed Hey guys,
If Disney kept every venue open that guests enjoy and pays for itself,
they wouldn't have been able to make ends meet with only two price
increases last year.
(Yes, I'm being sarcastic)
Yet another piece of the "magic" lost.
Maybe, they can convert The Fountainview into a sorely needed Nemo
character meet-and-greet/Gift Shop, with Dory as a princess and Marlin
and Nemo as pirates?
Wouldn't that be special!
Sign me up for a plush doll (*eyepatch not included... might be a
choking hazard). | |

Actually, I don't. I mean, if I'm staying on property I'll often stop
by for Illuminations. But I'm more likely to leave earlier now if I'm
there as a day guest. And if I'm going back to my hotel, I keep snacks
in my room (healthier ones. :))

We don't ever really have a budget when we go. If we want something,
be get it. More so with food than with anything else. Not that we run
through the parks with money burning holes in our pockets. But we
don't deny ourselves something just because it would run over a
specific budget to spend per day. So if Fountainview is closed,
removing the temptation for a piece of cake and a coffee, that impulse
purchase is taken out of our path at that particular time and place.
We don't say "Gee, Fountainview is gone. Where else can we get a piece
of cake?" We usually just go home not feeling we've missed anything.
So yes, the money we otherwise would have spent on impulse stays in
our pockets. And actually, we don't do a lot of treat buying. But that
one indulgence was one we always enjoyed and went for at least once in
a trip. Now? Out of sight, out of mind, so to speak.

I've never thought about it, but yeah, I think you may be right. When
we are on the France/UK/Canada side we'll find a quiet place to sit
for a bit so that wave of crowds thins out and then take our walk
around World Showcase in the opposite direction. I actually like
walking WS at that time of night. It's a very pleasant walk. I'm
always glad that there aren't CMs trying to heard you out towards the
front of the park at that time of night.

We drive to the Boardwalk and come into EPCOT the back way.
When we leave most of the people are going the other way.
