Disney property. Well I very smugly thought I would follow this advice
this trip. What blue signs???? I saw no blue signs, only purple ones.
Maybe they're spaced out a little better now because we didn't
encounter any situations where our left turn was 2 feet from where we
were in the right hand lane.

We still had those frustrations during our Labor Day trip. Luckily, DH has
driven there enough to know which signs to ignore, but there still were a
couple of those "go straight -- no turn in 2 feet" situations. I know there
were blue and purple signs, but I must have missed the discussion about
their significance --what's the deal?

| | Guest | Blue signs versus purple signs I think it was stated that if the sign is blue, your turn is coming up
immediately. If the sign is purple, you still have time to get in the
correct lane. I thought I would be smart and follow this "tip" this
trip but I think I saw two blue signs the whole time and neither one
had anything to do with directions! We spent a lot of time doing,
"Look, kids! Big Ben, Parliament." We got lost at least one time
every day. Not kidding.

You are absolutely right on that issue! That's why most of the time we
just laughed because we knew we'd eventually get where we wanted to go.
All roads lead to Disney.

There are street name signs but you have to know what street you want,
which we didn't! All Stars are Animal Kingdom resorts but I kept
following Animal Kingdom signs and missing Animal Kingdom Resorts and
All Star Resorts signs. It took me a couple of days to get used to
that. It seems like Disney roads are two concentric circles so you
don't really get lost; you're just like a little hamster on a wheel
going around and around and around and ..... Eventually you end up in
a gift shop. | |

| | Guest | Blue signs versus purple signs Having just returned from WDW, I can state with certainty - many streets
don't have name signs.

| | Guest | Blue signs versus purple signs Like you, I don't have a hard time getting around WDW. I ignore the non
street signs because they can lead you in a circle.
My concern is for newcomers.

I am pretty sure that this information is on your confirmation paper..
but that assumes people READ their confirmation info.

| | Guest | Blue signs versus purple signs This is going from memory from my last trip...
The purple signs are the directional signs indicating what lanes to be in on
the major roads. They only direct you to large destinations ("Epcot",
"Blizzard Beach") or to resort areas ("Epcot Resort Area").
There's bright blue signs are smaller signs along the side of the road,
mostly along the roads leading onto the property. They indicate what resorts
are within each Resort Area. So once you know what area your resort is in,
you can just follow the large purple signs to the area you need. (It's
similar to approaching a large airport. There's signs saying which airlines
are in which terminal, then you just follow the large signs for the terminal
you need.)
I'm trying to remember what color the smaller signs pointing the way into
the entrances of the actual resorts are. Those may be a dark blue color...
And to confuse the matter, there's also the couple of bright red signs
pointing the way to the Bonnet Creek Resort which is *not* Disney. :-)
