| | Guest | Popularity of Kona Cafe and Whispering Canyon Cafe and others? I've been following the debates around the DDP with interest because we're
planning on buying it for our trip. Bearing in mind what's been said about
needing to book, how popular are:
1. The Kona Cafe for lunch (we've never been)
2. The Whispering Canyon Cafe for dinner (again we've never been)
3. The Princess Storybook Breakfast in Norway, EPCOT (ditto)
Would we really need to have booked 6 months in advance? Also if you make
P.S. do you pay in advance as with Cinderella's Royal Table?
Any advice appreciated.

We usually eat at the Whispering Canyon, and on our last trip we did
the Princess Storybook Breakfast (and dinner). The Princess Storybook
meals do book up quickly, so I would recommend calling to see if you
can get any reservation on your intended Epcot day if you are within
your 180 day mark. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner all have princesses, so
if that's the goal, any meal may do.
Whispering Canyon is probably a little less important - the resort
restaurants do tend to be a little less busy, but I would still call if
you know what day you want to eat there. We've never eaten at the Kona
Cafe, but again if you know what day you're aiming for, you might as
well make a reservation.
As far as I know, none of these are pre-pay reservations. However, they
do request a CC number for the Princess Storybook meals, and it has a
48-hour cancellation policy (if you cancel within 48 hours of your
reservation time, you will be charged regardless). The other two should
be penalty-free for cancellations or changes.

I arrived at WDW on Sept 18 , and that day,
made a reservation at Whispering Canyon for Sept. 19, 8:40 PM.

In general, resort restaurants at lunch are not that busy. Kona can
also be walk-in toward the end of the evening.

We do this alllll the time.. we never make reservations/priority
seating plans - except MAYBE the same day or the day before we want
them. Usually we are just walk ups - and we are rarely turned away.
I hate pre-planning my Disney trips and like to take things as they
go... Personally I cannot see planning every minute of my time at
Disney. But then again - we don't usually have places we HAVE to eat
at, there are only 2 of us (easier to get tables, as most people at
Disney travel with kid, grandkids, and other relative), and we often
decide which park or resort we will visit when we get up in the
morning.
Rodney - sounds like your cruise/Disney trip was great!
