So how do the fans stop motion sickness then ?

It's not a medical answer - but they certainly help me with threatened
motion/air sickness (and I'm a professional pilot).

Guess is that, apparently, the first signs of airsickness/motion
sickness is a "loss of appetite" (well, I'm not hungry at the moment -
but I'm not airsick either).

The second sign, so they tell me, is persperation on the forehead
(brilliant, I live in Florida).

I do know that when people start to get queazy (queezy?) when
travelling, a blast of cold air on the face certainly helps to ward off
the oncoming sickness.

I know that fans have helped me in MANY situations - including MS
(which broke down once whilst I was riding - and had it not been for
the air con fan blowing a steady stream of cold onto my face and
forehead I'm sure I would have freaked out with the claustrophobic
environment of the wall being fully forward and the industrial strength
seat restraint doing it's best to pin me motionless in the semi-dark
world of a faulty mission to mars).

It's a good question. I don't know why, but I know it works. I get
motion sickness from anything - cars, planes, rides, watercraft. On
airplanes, I have that little air vent thingy in the overhead panel
blasting on me for the duration of the flight. Gotta. When I'm feeling
queasy in the car, first thing I do is roll down the windows so that
there's a breeze hitting my face. On a cruise, if the inside of the
ship is getting a little too rock & rolly for my comfort, you'll find
me out on deck with my face pointing into the wind.

Queasy! That's it (darned spell checkers have taken away real life
skills).

When we went in August, there were 3 lovely splashes of quickly drying,
Technicolour vomit outside Mission Space and another right next to the
Universe of Energy (not to mention the two women we saw launching their
breakfasts into the flower beds...)

When in doubt, ride the Anti-Gravol.
