It's actually more a pre-paid vacation at Disneyworld plan for the next
40-50 years rather than a timeshare plan. That's what it seems like to
me so I've never been able to justify it to myself to buy in. If I had
enough money where I could buy a couple hundred points and I wouldn't
miss the money, then I would probably buy in. Otherwise, it's not a
real cost effective thing for us. As someone else said, you can run
the numbers all you want. It's how the benefits are going to fit in
with what you are looking to get out of it as to whether it's a good
idea for you or not. | |

| | Guest | Info on Disney's Vacation Club I have looked into DVC a couple of times but decided not to buy in. I
would have done it, I would have bought into DVC when it first came
out. I would have gotten my money's worth but now WDW is not a must do
every year place for us we want to experience other places.

Its not cheap... We worked out we'd need something like 500 points for
two weeks in October which is when we normally visit (we're in the UK
so its not worth it for a week!).
At current price of $101 a point its a LOT !!!!
Also, I hear of a yearly service charge as well???
At the moment, we rent a villa near Disney for about $1000-$1200 for
two weeks. 4 bedrooms, pool etc. 10 mins from Disney. And in the
current saturate market theres tons to choose from...
I would like to join DVC but not at that price...

| | Guest | Info on Disney's Vacation Club I've run the numbers a bunch of times, over the years, and always
conclude it's fiscally sounder to just pay as we go and keep our big $$
in the investment funds where they belong.

So, say you wanted to stay at DVC as a one-off, would you just rent it
off another member then?
Whats the best place to find these advertised ?

Actually, I thought that was the criteria to guarantee connecting rooms.
i.e. kids under 18 can't be alone so rooms MUST open to each other.
