My problem is that a lot of the really annoying, rude people at WDW
during a week when NJ schools are out are from New Jersey. The instance
that I mentioned in my trip report WAS NOT during a NJ School Week. AND
the original poster for this thread asked specifically about NJ WEEK.
Not all people from NJ are rude, but I can tell the difference between
an upstate NY, a MA, a Maine, a Vermont, and a NJ accent. Maybe it's
folks from south Jersey. I lived in upstate NY for 4 years & yes, I
agree, NJ is a hospitable state.
The people that I mentioned in my postings, I wouldn't say hello to
them if they had NC, VA or SC accents (btw: can you tell the difference
in those? what about IN vs OH vs MI?).
I have talked to people from NJ and found them quite pleasant -- they
were being pleasant before I ever spoke to them -- otherwise I wouldn't
have spoke to them. We've made friends w/ people from Martha's Vineyard
MA (that was a surprise to us and a surprise to the other couple) --
met every afternoon at the pool bar to visit. We've been pleasant
acquaintances w/ people from all over the world & met them repeatedly
on different trips to WDW.
Back to my point, perhaps it's because I knew it was a Jersey week --
my unscientific OBSERVATION is that during Jersey week I see & hear
more rude people than I do at other times of the year (we don't go to
WDW during the summer) AND that they have New Jersey sounding accents.
By no means did I intend to make an indictment of the state of NJ.
