Default Retire to Orlando?

Posted on behalf of DW.

DW just asked me to ask if any areas near WDW are popular (or cater to)
retirees? She definitely does not want to work for the mouse, but would
like to be relativly close to the world. That means in the Orlando area.
Tampa is too far away.

We are just starting to think about this, so we are openminded on the
type of housing.

I am retired know, DW will retire in 2007.

Thanks meerkat1

You mean for living? There are a number of gated communities,
apartment and townhouse complexes on the highways surrounding
WDW. I have relatives who moved to Orlando when WWII ended.
They recently moved from their home of 50 years to one of these
communities.

They also say that Disney has ruined Orlando :-)

"They also say that Disney has ruined Orlando :-)"

Well - that's a matter of opinion, on what they want Orlando to be. I'm
going to doubt that most people believe that Disney "ruined" Orlando,
but that Disney "changed" Orlando.

Pittsburgh used to be a mill city, but now it's a tech city - it's not
ruined, just changed. Orlando used to be a swamp, now it's a vacation
mecca - not ruined, just changed.
