Default Home Away or ?

Has anyone tallied up the pros and cons, cost-wise of a family with 2
or 3 kids staying at the Home Away from Home accommodations versus a
resort without kitchenettes? We're going down for 7 days with three
kids. We've tentatively booked the Animal Kingdom Resort (the Afriocan
place) but now are thinking that it may be stressful not to mention
costly to do every meal out for a whole week.

The DVC 1BR units are only designed to sleep four. They are huge, though,
and have their own full kitchen and washer and dryer. I am not sure if they
will allow a fifth person in a 1BR, so that my be the biggest consideration
for the OP. Another alternative might be the FW cabins.

A 5th person is not allowed in a 1br villa at any DVC resort, unless
that 5th person is an infant who sleeps in the porta-crib. However, if
you can swing the cost - the 2br villas are fantastic for a family.
The kids can share the 2nd bedroom, mom/dad have the luxurious master
suite, each bedroom has it's own bathroom, and the
kitchen/living/dining area is great for breakfast or snacks, or just
chilling a bit in the villa. I do believe it'll cost significantly
more than a couple of value or moderate rooms - perhaps more than 2
deluxe rooms....unless you rent points from a dvc member & book it that
way.

We have this booked for November. Adults are $35, 9 & under is $10. I
would spend $35 on dinner alone. This plan is : 1 counter svc, 1
snack, 1 sit down that includes appetizer, entree, dessert, bevg AND
gratuity. You can exchange 1 sit down for 1 character meal, or 2 for
signature dining. I can't imagine not doing this plan.
