I have been to the WDW Resort many times and my three favorite times
of the year to visit are Early December (all of the holiday
decorations and happenings), January (low crowds) and Late
October-Early November (EPCOT's Food & Wine Festival).
Earlier this year we went the week that included the MLK weekend -
this was my girlfriend's first visit to the resort - and she was
amazed at how uncrowded it was. I have also been there during the
Marathon weekend and it, too, won't be much more crowded because of
the event. I have learned that MOST special events bring in guests to
do that event...and not much else. For example the Super Soap
Weekends at the studios. The attractions are virtually empty but the
paths may be a bit more crowded.
So, IMHO, either week would be good with the Marathon weekend taking
the slight edge.
That being said...have a great time at the World!!!
