Default Jan. trip?

We were considering a trip from Jan. 8-15th, but now I see the WDW marathon
is scheduled for Jan. 9th. Does that bring large crowds to the parks?
Obviously it brings a lot of runners in, but I didn't know if most would be
visiting the parks before or after the race. Would we be better going from
Jan 15-22nd instead? Those two weeks are really our only options.

Thanks for any suggestions

Kaycee

We've been there during marathon weekend twice, and we've not had any
problems or seen extraordinarily large crowds. I personally wouldn't stay
away from WDW just because of the marathon. Jan. 15 - 22 might be a great
time; just be sure that's not a week w/ a national holiday (can't find my
calendar right now, sorry).

Have fun!

I have been to the WDW Resort many times and my three favorite times
of the year to visit are Early December (all of the holiday
decorations and happenings), January (low crowds) and Late
October-Early November (EPCOT's Food & Wine Festival).

Earlier this year we went the week that included the MLK weekend -
this was my girlfriend's first visit to the resort - and she was
amazed at how uncrowded it was. I have also been there during the
Marathon weekend and it, too, won't be much more crowded because of
the event. I have learned that MOST special events bring in guests to
do that event...and not much else. For example the Super Soap
Weekends at the studios. The attractions are virtually empty but the
paths may be a bit more crowded.

So, IMHO, either week would be good with the Marathon weekend taking
the slight edge.

That being said...have a great time at the World!!!

The marathon goes from 6AM to 11AM.
Its an ordeal for participants to get up in time.

Transportation starts at 3AM, as we have to be at the start by 4AM.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. It seemed like most said the
Marathon wknd had a small edge over MLK wknd. We will be there from
1/8-1/15. Now to plan some priority seatings... There is planning to
do! =) Usually I have several months in advance!

Good luck in the race Sue. =)
