| | Guest | Greetings Just a note of introduction. My wife and I have been going to WDW and
Disneyland since 1991 (OK she went once to Disneyland before we met, but
that doesn't count). I am 49 and never got to go to either park when I was
growing up, so I have tried to make up for it over the past several years.
We have joined DVC, live in NJ, and go about twice a year. At work I feel
like I have grown an additional head from the looks and comments I get a
work when I tell them that we are off to our Spring (or Fall) trip to
Orlando (with an occasional trip to Disneyland thrown in).
My favorite memory, so far, is of the first time that we ever reached Disney
soil and could see "Spaceship Earth." I had heard about, but had never seen
it and I had to pull over and just marvel at the sight.
We still get goosebumps when we first pull onto the site and look forward
(counting down the days) to every trip. Our next trip is 85 days away, and
this year we are planning an additional trip for Christmas and will be
staying in the newly opened Pop Century hotel (we had reservations for the
last opening, but alas...). My wife will get another trip in November for a
conference (and I am jealous). Finally, we are inviting my two daughters
and their families for my 50th birthday party next year.
Once again greetings from NJ.

| | Guest | Greetings Welcome!
You'll find the folks here share a wealth of information about WDW.
I can sympathize with the looks you get...I get them all the time! People
think I'm crazy, but that's OK. I have a lot more fun on my vacations than
almost anyone else I know!
We've been a "post-kid" middle age couple our last few trips to "The
World", but this time we're taking our kid, his wife, their kid, my sister-
and brother-in-law and their kids, so it will be a whole new experience!
We'll be at Pop Century for opening day, at the end of a very long trip--
five days at Port Orleans Riverside, four-night DCL cruise, three nights at
All Star Music and then three at Pop Century.
We celebrated DH's 50th birthday there, and mine, and now we're headed back
for our 31st anniversary.
I can't imagine a better vacation spot!
Beth
Only 129 days 20 hours 16 minutes 47 seconds until our 06:00AM departure
for Disneyworld on December 1, 2003--but who's counting? | |

Welcome Carey! You're not alone in not getting to see anything Disney as a
kid -- me neither! And yes, I'm trying to make up for it as fast as
possible! <g> Glad to have you aboard. Here's hoping that Pop Century
opens on time, since we have ressies there too!

Welcome and as others have said you are not alone in getting weird
looks. We live about 75 minutes from the parks and go 2 or 3 times a
month, although we have gone for the past 5 weekends. When our
friends ask us what we are doing for the weekend and we tell them
Disney their reply is always "Again, haven't you seen everything yet"
or sometimes we get "Aren't you bored going there so often". Our
answer is always a resounding NO. No matter how often we go we always
find new things to see and do either in the parks or the resorts.

| | Guest | Greetings Welcome Carey!
I also live in NJ and have the same issues you do!
We were at The Wilderness Lodge last year in July.
We are going back to The Wilderness Lodge in September this year (this time
doing concierge) and go abut once a year. Next year we are doing our first
Disney Cruise plus a stay at the Lodge. (Can you tell we like The Wilderness
Lodge???)
I never went to the world until my honeymoon!! My daughter will have gone
twice before she was 3!! So, yes, we are making up for it too!

| | Guest | Greetings Hiya Carey,
Hmmm. I must say, I wasn't too far ahead of you for my first time to the Mouse
either. My first time was the year before MGM studios opened. When the heck was
that. I don't know, late 80's.
My then soon to be wife, (now "She who must be obeyed") brought me as a
surprise birthday present the first time.
Loved Walt as a kid and always dreamed I could go to Disneyland. As an adult, I
couldn't understand people who seemed to go to Disney World year after year. I
thought they were nuts.
Then I went.
Now I go once a year, and am a dvc member.
Guess I'm now nuts.

I've gotten used to the looks - however, my friends and co=workers have
also gotten used to me & Disney. My first trip, with my Mom (her 1st
trip, too), was last January - I was 31. Since then, we've done DL -
June 02, WDW - Dec 02 (bought an AP), I did a solo trip in Feb this year
(solely becuase the AP was sitting here looking at me) and we're going
back this November for my 33rd Birthday.
So, 4 trips to WDW and 1 to DL In less than 2 years - I'd have to say
we're making up for lost time.
We've done All Stars exclusively, but I;m planning on 2 nights at AKL
for my birthday in November (can't really afford it - but what the
heck...)
I mostly lurk in this group, but it's information and the regulars who
post here are great Enjoy!

Hi Gail:
Anytime you want to go just let us know when you will be there and I
am sure another "freak" can meet you. FYI, we'll be in MK on the
night of 7/31, and EPCOT and MGM on 8/1

I live in NJ too and I get the same thing. People constantly ask "how can you
go to the same place all the time and 3 times a year at that?" Well, we LIKE
it - we can act like kids (him 46 me 56) and don't have to worry about "looks".
We are also going to Disneyland this year instead of our October trip to WDW.
But we will be back at WDW for the week after Thanksgiving.
Don't worry about the people at work. Just enjoy the fact that you can do it -
they don't know what they are missing!
Welcome to the group!
