Won't. Why should it?

If they bought the P & O contract they WILL be handling your luggage on
and off the cruise ship and other cruise ship operations.

P & O did a bad job but that dosen't mean that the Arabs will do any
better.

I've been to Dubai and believe that the firm has good intentions, but
they are leaving themselves and us open to extortion from the "crazies"
back home in the UAE.

In NY, I just don't think that's the case. I heard another story about
it on NPR on my way to work today. The area in question that this
company will be taking over is at the Port of Newark which is strictly
a cargo/container ship port. There is no passenger cruise ship traffic
at the Port of Newark. Bayonne? Yes. NYC west side? Yes. Port of
Newark? No.

Don't get me wrong. I think it's an awful idea. I don't like the idea
of our port operations being under foreign contracts - Arab or
otherwise. But, I'm pretty sure, at least as far as NYC port operations
go, this operations contract will not involve passenger cruise ships.

I looked at a list of major ports being run by foreign
companies. The list is about 20. So, I take it that had you known,
you would not have been happy with P&O getting the contract in the
first place?

I'd be happiest if US ports were operated by US companies. I'm not
particularly comfortable with any of our port operations being run by
any foreign country.
