Default Review Mariner Of The Seas 11/27 - 12/4

My wife and I returned yesterday from the 7 day Eastern Caribbean itinerary.
We had Cabin 1388 a category D-1 aft balcony which is bigger in both cabin
and balcony dimensions than most others in the same class. (I requested this
cabin when we booked 19 months ago) It was roomy and contained a king size
bed, sofa which could be converted to a bed, an easy chair, the usual desk
cum make up table, very ample closet and drawer space and a safe. The
balcony easily accommodated two lounge chairs, two regular chairs and a
small table, The only drawback was a structural support post in the cabin
and a metal support beam on the balcony, neither one created any problem.
The walk to the cabin from the centum elevators was a long one but well
worth it.
The ship was really great, the carpets furnishings, etc. were really nice,
the crew was exceptionally friendly and helpful ( I attribute this seemingly
happy crew to the Captain who was Royal Caribbean veteran Johnny Favelin who
leads by example).
We were assigned to a table for two in the Rhapsody In Blue dining room
which was on deck 3. We would have preferred either of the other two dining
rooms on deck 4 or 5, but it was no big thing. Our waiter Juan, assistant
Jahio (sp?) and head waiter Lewis could not have been more attentive. The
food was out of this world; we looked forward to the dinner menu each night.
We ate breakfast and lunch in the Windjammer each day. There was a wide
selection of food for both meals. We never checked out the dinner selections
there since we preferred the comfort and service of the dining room.
We usually do not bother going to the shows but did attend the ice show
which was well worth seeing and we would go again.
The bar wait staffs were very friendly and efficient and the casino treated
us right since we came away approximately $100 ahead at the end of the
cruise.
Our cabin attendant Clarion could not have been better.
I realize I have waxed ecstatic about this ship, cruise and crew, but
truthfully we had no complaints whatsoever and we really classify this as
the best of our eight cruises.
I have not mentioned the ports because we prefer to stay on the ship and
have no interest in tours. I did get off for a short time in St Thomas to
purchase some scotch. Other than that both of us would just as soon had the
ship just stay at sea for 7 days.
We did have some mildly rough seas for about a day and a half.; just enough
to rock you to sleep.
Bob
