From the looks of where the storm located was last night I doubt if Cozumel
would be ready to receive ships for quite a while. I suppose they could
always tender into town if necessary. Even if the terminal wasn't damaged,
the shops will probably be demolished. | |

Princess has quietly re-routed Coral Princess this week. Some of my
releatives are on their Panama Canal cruise right now. They went on
schedule until Thursday. Today (Saturday 10/22) they were supposed to
call Grand Cayman and tomorrow Cozumel before returning to Ft.
Lauderdale on Tuesday. However as of departing Costa Rica on Thursday
the "Position" on the bridge cam read "bound to Aruba" and the locations
of sun and moon on camera confirmed they were heading East.
I called Princess yesterday. First they said - no changes to
itinerary... Called an hour later, and the lady (after apparently
looking at the same web camera) said they were going to Aruba, but she
didn't know when they gonna be there and for how long, and they don't
know what happens next (she said Cozumel was still on the route -- yeah
sure, has she ever seen the map???). Then my friend who is a travel
agent called their contact, and they gave her some strange ports of call
too...
Anyway this morning they docked at Aruba and we were able to reach our
releatives on their cell phone. Apparently they stay there until 4pm and
then head directly to Ft. Lauderdale. No more stops...
This is very disappointing. While I think they made a good move by going
away from the hurricane and calling Aruba, which on my opinion is worth
Grand Caymen and Cozumel together, they could have at least tell their
CSRs about the diversion, let alone posting it on the web site... I am
not a very experienced cruiser, only cruised once before, so maybe it is
the standard in the industry, not to announce their itinerary changes to
the world, but it seems just strange......

I don't think it is unusual. Once the ship has sailed to the CSR's it
is probable passé. They have moved on to the next and future sailings.
I think the passengers lucked out getting Aruba.

I agree, Charles..one can go to Cozumel anytime..not as easy to get a 7
dayer that includes Aruba.

Thanks for replies. Their cruise is a 10 day, not 7 (original itinerary: FLL->sea->Ocho Rios->sea->
Panama Canal->Costa Rica->sea->Cayman->Cozumel->sea->FLL)... None the less, as I said in my
first post - Aruba is definetly worth both Cayman and Cozumel together. Of course now they have 2
straight days at sea to catch up the distance, but I think it's well worth it. I wish I bought a ticket to
Cozumel and ended up in Aruba like that ;-)

| | Guest | Princess ships We just got off the Star Princess yesterday morning. We were scheduled to
do the Western but due to Wilma we did the Eastern. We were off the ship
early and they were trying to get the next lot of people on board early. We
did hear from some of the staff that the port in Fort Lauderdale was closing
2:00 pm and the ship had to get out. Not sure where they will be going.

Here's another point supporting flying in the day before and boarding
early in the day...especially during hurricane season. Gets you to the
ship early on boarding day. Did Princess even board the new cruise's
passengers, or did it just leave port, to get out of harm's way? How
are passengers, who didn't make the early departure, accomodated in
situations like this?

| | Guest | Princess ships We did not see people waiting to get on. We were out by the cabs by 8 am.
We had red luggage tags and were part of the first group off the ship.
