Thanks for the review Clay. You figured the Carnival Miracle out pretty
well.

Thanks Susan. Your description of the awful Miracle dining room is as
good as any.

Hi good review .We also done both Carinval & Disney cruises . Like i
tell everybody going on Carnival ,it's like going to Las Vagas . You
will not fined alot of people liking Disney either here on RTC.I
remember going on Disney and people telling me your going on Disney !!
The cruise line to compare Carnival to is RCCI .Food hands down much
better on Carnival then on RCCI .RCCI ships brighter .Carinval not as
bright . Cabins on Carinval good size .Cabins on RCCI ships very small
on some of there ships not all.But the Voyager class of ships for RCCI
are better then anyship Carinval has, if your not in to having alot to
do on a cruise then either of these cruises lines are for you .It's
really not fair to compare Disney to Carinval .Fist of all Disney is
priced much higher then Carinval .When we were on Disney half the ship
was teens and kids . That was great for us we have 2 boy's . But it's
not for everyone !! And your right about the main dinning room on the
Miracle ,i call it Berny's playhouse !!It's the worse we ever seen on a
cruise ship .But we had a great time on the Miracle in august .Also
Carinval is not the same as it was years ago !!

Thanks for the review, Clay. I'm glad that you found the food and service
very good and enjoyed your excursion in the Cayman's so much....From
previous reviews and photos that I have seen, I would not have chosen the
Miracle as my first Carnival cruise; Farkus was definitely on *something*
and was hallucinating while decorating this ship...Too bad that Susan had
only the Disney cruise and the Miracle to compare. That's like comparing
apples and potatoes!! I knew that as soon as she started calling the other
passengers *slobs* in the third paragraph, that all that followed would not
be especially good! ;-).
Your blowing the circuits with your GPS was not Carnival's fault and on the
day of boarding, there is always mass confusion.
Getting everyone settled in, baggage delivery and safety drill to contend
with, it was not a surprise that you were not able to get it taken care of
right away. I don't care what cruise ship you would have been on, the first
day is the most hectic to get anything done..I know this as a fact as when
we boarded the Norwegian Crown, our safe was locked and there was no key to
open it, so we were unable to put our money and valuables in it. The cabin
steward did not know what had happened to the key and was busy with bringing
on the luggage..
With all the hustle and bustle of the first day, we could not get anything
done until the afternoon of the next day and had to carry our money
valuables with us whenever we left the cabin.
Your embarkation was unfortunate and as you stated, not the fault of the
cruise line...but it might have set the mood slightly for the rest of the
cruise...I'm not a Carnival lover, but am only trying to be fair; out of our
31 cruises, 10 have been with Carnival and although the decor has much to
desire, we have had a good time and favorable experiences on them..When we
first started cruising, I found myself comparing ship against ship...no
longer..I have learned to view each ship as a different and unique
experience with its own personality..Just as people, there are things we
like and dislike about each other ..but that is life...I would not like for
each ship to be the same...variety is the spice of life!!! However; as I
stated earlier, after seeing photos of the Miracle and reading other reviews
about her horrendous decor, I would not have chosen her for my first
Carnival experience...
JMHO,

Whose fault would it be? A GPS unit doesn't require anywhere near as much
power as a blow dryer. Why wouldn't you assume there would be enough
electricity in the room to power a small electronic device? It doesn't
sound like an act of God to me. | |

Cathy, I happen to know of someone who overloaded their socket on a cruise
ship and blew the circuits...Therefore; that is why I made that
statement..It may not apply to what happened with Clay..so I suppose I
should have said that *possibly* that it was not Carnival's fault; not
knowing what actually did cause it..Not owning a GPS, I wouldn't know how
much power it requires..

The reason I picked this cruise was, it was the cheapest, it went to
Grand Cayman, it was not Disney.

I'm not sure I follow the circuit blowing thing, but I understood the
mass confusion.

Thanks for the comments Jean. Even my wife will tell you, if all we
could afford was that same cruise, we would do that as opposed to a land
based vacation. We probably would stay in the cabin more though. :)

You're welcome, Clay...Glad to hear that the overall experience did not
*sour* you against cruising on Carnival again..
You're right about the best ambience being in your cabin on Carnival! At
least it has the calmest atmosphere..I have heard the Legend and the Glory
are better..guess I will have to see for myself one day!

Why wouldn't it make more sense to go on a ship like HAL's Statendam Class
that you know you will love, rather than take the chance on going on another
ugly ship?
