The breakfast we received at the last time share talk was not how you
described it at all. It was a first class meal fried eggs, bacon, sausage,
pancakes, French toast, all sorts of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal. Oh, I
forgot, 2 tickets to Chitza-Nitza with lunch included. (not a good as the
time share meal but still acceptable) and we didn't even need a kitchen to
enjoy it. | |

Oh, now THAT sounds like a fun way to start a week's vacation...not.

No matter how you slice it, some people just don't get it.

Care to say just where you went to get all of this? Surely wasn't Mexico.

You got to be friggen kidding. If it is true that maintenance fees pay
for free gifts, you are proving that timeshares are a rip off.

| | Guest | Timeshare Game Charles, No I'm not saying that the "free stuff" is all being bought by
our Maint. Fees at all. I am saying that a portion of the fees are
going for that (ie. housekeeping salaries, supplies,
electricity, consumables) all going up in value each year. You can say
the developer is paying for all that stuff but you better believe its
being passed on to the owners in the form of Maint. fees one way or
another. Nothing is for free. Somebody is paying for it all and you
know damn well its not the developer.
As I told Rich in a personal e-mail...my properties have increased in
value (based on recent re-sales) $30,000. To my knowledge they aren't
making any more oceanfront property on the east coast. On average over
the past 20 years each week only cost me about $125/week. Where are you
going for any decent vacation for that amount of money and still walk
away from that vacation with equity? Nobody has addressed that at all
in the thread. All anyone wants to talk about is the expenses. Or how
a full kitchen and cooking isn't a vacation. Hell, everything in life
costs money. Whats the best bang for your buck is all were talking
about here. Groceries and cooking are an option. Just like a massage
on a cruise is an option. Just like alternate dining on a cruise is an
option. Just like shore tours are an option. Just like drinks on a
cruise are an option, bingo, shopping, inch of gold, gambling, art
auctions, ect. ect. ect are all options. Not everyone on a cruises uses
these but you don't hear people bashing it because its there.
Rich said very early on in this thread that he could go on a cruise for
what all us Time Share owners pay in expenses. I am still waiting to
hear of a cruise he can go on for just himself for $125 a week not to
mention taking 5 other people with him. Why? Because you can't. But
all us TIme Share people can. Rich doesn't need a full kitchen because
he mooches off freebies at Time Share pitches yet he bashes the concept
and says its not right for him. Maybe its not right for him and thats
ok. But he (nor anyone else) has proven why its not a value. I and
other owners have proven that it is over an over again.
I challenge anyone to give examples of how TIme Sharing is a rip off vs.
taking a cruise. By that I mean expenses above and beyond what you
would pay for on a cruise or to get to a cruise vs. owning your own
vacation TIme Share. Base those savings over a 20 year period and walk
away with equity once its all paid for. ANYONE??

It was in Cancun at the Sands Hotel, one of the nicest places we've been to.
Wonder how it survived the hurricane?
